      10,000 Reasons

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

The vision concerning Judah and Jerusalem that Isaiah son of Amoz saw during the reigns of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

Hear me, you heavens! Listen, earth!
    For the Lord has spoken:
“I reared children and brought them up,
but they have rebelled against me.
      The ox knows its master,
    the donkey its owner’s manger,
but Israel does not know,
    my people do not understand.”
Woe to the sinful nation,
a people whose guilt is great,
a brood of evildoers,
    children given to corruption!
They have forsaken the Lord;
they have spurned the Holy One of Israel
and turned their backs on him.

                                                        Isaiah 1:1-4

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through today's TWA passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is: Why God reared us and brought us up but we do not know Him and turned our backs on Him?

Today we start to read Isaiah. Isaiah the prophet received a vision from God to proclaim warning and prophecing to God's people because they did not know God who reared them and brought them up. They rebelled against God, turned their backs on Him and got themselves in destruction!

This sad situation also is happening to the whole world today, we have been suffering lots of unexpected calamity because we as God's people turn our backs on God who reared us and brought us up!

So, how can we be saved?

Actually it is very simple. Isaiah 1:4 gives us our problem:

      They have forsaken the Lord;
they have spurned the Holy One of Israel
and turned their backs on him.
.
What we need to do is the opposite of what Isaiah 1:4 says:
We run to God each day to allow Him to embrace us as His dear children!

If you have not yet started to read our daily TWA passages, I invite you to start to read those passages today, especially the passages from Isaiah in the coming few weeks time. That's what it means to run to God and be in His embrace, to be protected and blessed by Him!

     Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be willing to run to you and be in your embrace that we can be protected and blessed by you.  In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
