      10,000 Reasons

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

Tell me, you whom I love,
    where you graze your flock
and where you rest your sheep at midday.
Why should I be like a veiled woman
beside the flocks of your friends?

If you do not know, most beautiful of women,
follow the tracks of the sheep
and graze your young goats
by the tents of the shepherds.

I liken you, my darling, to a mare
    among Pharaoh’s chariot horses.
Your cheeks are beautiful with earrings,
your neck with strings of jewels.
We will make you earrings of gold,
    studded with silver.

                                 Song of Songs 1:7-11

Daughters of Jerusalem, I charge you
by the gazelles and by the does of the field:
Do not arouse or awaken love
    until it so desires.

                                       Song of Songs 2:7

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through today's TWA passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is: Jesus waiting for your desiring to love Him!

Lots of people cannot understand Song of Songs and many Christians even do not want to read Song of Songs because they cannot find meaning to read it.

Actually Song of Songs is a love song which is so easy to understand. At first sight you can easily find the intimate and deep love of a husband and his wife, but then your eyes might be opened by the Holy Spirit to find the intimate and deep love of God and His people, the love of Christ and the Church as described in Revelation.

We can see in 1:8 the desperate desire to see each other and in 1:9-11 to see the husband can spend everything he has to purchase the most expensive pearl, gold and silver to his wife!

We can see this kind of extravagant spending in quite a number of weddings, so called dream wedding! Some husbands need to use more than ten years to pay off the loan for that kind of wedding! But, that's love, love is for someone to sacrifice whatever he or she can sacrifice!

The sad thing is that many husbands and wives lost this kind of sacrificial love after their wedding because of children, family, work, money, busyness ....!

The most important verse I received is from 2:7, Jesus is always waiting for us to have that intimate and deep desire to love Him and not loving other people or other things more than loving Him!

If we can enter into that intimate and deep love with Jesus than we are willing to sacrifice everything we have to enhance this love! We will love our spouse more, willing to sacrifice more for our spouse, we will love our church more and willing to sacrifice more for our church, because that is love!

Jesus is waiting for you to have this desperate desire to love Him so that your marriage, your family, your church and many relationships will be richly blessed!

     Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to understand that you are waiting for us to have this desperate desire to love you and be willing to enter into your love so that our marriage, our family, our church and many relationship will be richly blessed.  In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
