Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

24 “No one can serve two masters. Either you will hate the one and love the other, or you will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve both God and money.

25 “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? 26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life[e]?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. 30 If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? 31 So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. 33 But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

                                                                Matthew 6:24-34

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through today's passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is:  The only way never be worried

There are lots of things in everyday's news and troubles happening to us to make people have lots of worries, not able to sleep or eat and live each day in fear!

The word "worry" appears in Matthew 6:24-34 six times (actually it is seven times as verse 25 is 'worry' about your body). Jesus repeats the word "worry" seven times to teach us the only way never to be worried.

The only way never to be worried is not to let anything to "lord" our lives, no matter those things are money, good food and clothes, good life or anything lording our lives to press us into lots of worries!

The only way never to be worried is "Jesus is Lord", with the presence of Jesus each day, our life will be secure and satisfied!

That's how it says in today's Psalm 6:1-3 that David was in a very severe trouble and worries in a mind state that God left him and he did not know when God will come to save him

That's how it says in today's Genesis 18:20-19:38 of how Abraham was in big trouble of how God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and how God used him to save Lot and his family but not Lot's wife. Lots of worries in Genesis 18-19.

That's how today's Proverbs 2:6-15 tells us of those who receive wisdom from God will be in God's protection and will walk in the way of righteousness. We know that wisdom is the same as Holy Spirit as in Proverbs and the filling of the Holy Spirit is because we have the presence of God. Yes, the only way never be worried is for the presence of God to be with you each day!

    With Lord life be full!
That's what I sang using "Nada te tube- Never be Troubled", one of my most favourite Taize chant.

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to understand and experience that the only way for us not to be worried is for you to be our Lord  each day. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
