Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passages:

"Does Job fear God for nothing?" Satan replied. "Have you not put a hedge around him and his household and everything he has? You have blessed the work of his hands, so that his flocks and herds are spread throughout the land. But stretch out your hand and strike everything he has, and he will surely curse you to your face."  The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, everything he has is in your power, but on the man himself do not lay a finger.”                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            Job 1: 9-11

On another day the angels[d] came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan also came with them to present himself before him.And the Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”

Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”

Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job? There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God and shuns evil. And he still maintains his integrity, though you incited me against him to ruin him without any reason.”

“Skin for skin!” Satan replied. “A man will give all he has for his own life. But now stretch out your hand and strike his flesh and bones, and he will surely curse you to your face.”

The Lord said to Satan, “Very well, then, he is in your hands; but you must spare his life.”

So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the crown of his head. Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.

His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity? Curse God and die!”

10 He replied, “You are talking like a foolish woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”                                                  Job 2:1- 10

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is: If you lose everything, do you still love me?

Jesus asks you now, "If you lose everything, do you still love me?"

What is your answer?

The book of Job is to challenge your relationship with Jesus.
What if you really lose everything like Job and do you still love Jesus?
It is easy to say "Of course I still love you, Lord!"
Peter said that before but then he failed!
Actually it would be very difficult when suffering and destruction suddernly happen to you.

When it happens, that would be your time of a Job's Challenge!

No body wants to have a Job's challenge but anyway it will come one day.
When that day comes do you still have an intimate personal relationship with Jesus?

Then, in Job chapter 2, God allowed Satan to hurt Job again!
See how his wife told him and how Job replied,"Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?"

I think for quite a number of Christians would have the mentality of asking God to give "No trouble and no suffering" "Please Jesus, I can't take that, don't let that trouble happens to me, please!"

If you were a CEO of a large company, who are you going to choose for a new position of General Manager?
I think you will choose the one who has a track record to face troubles rather than the one who has not faced a real trouble before?

Let me ask you a question:
How can you receive more anointing from the Holy Spirit that you can do some extraordinary thing for Christ?
The answer is just one word - Submission.

Each time you submit yourself to God when you are in deep trouble you experience God in a deep level and build up a more trusting relationship with Him. Each time you submit yourself to God your anointing will be increased just as Jesus was being exalted when He humbled himself and became obedient to death on a cross.

So, don't just accept good and not trouble. It won't do you good!

If God allows trouble to come He must have a reason, trust in Him and be encouraged that He might just want to raise you up to another level that you can work better for Him!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Prepares us daily to face a Job's challenge and help us to
accept not just good but also trouble
. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
