Silence

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

     Do not be terrified by them, for the Lord your God, who is among you, is a great and awesome God.                                Deuteronomy 7: 21

      Be careful that you do not forget the Lord your God, failing to observe his commands, his laws and his decrees that I am giving you this day. Otherwise, when you eat and are satisfied, when you build fine houses and settle down, and when your herds and flocks grow large and your silver and gold increase and all you have is multiplied, then your heart will become proud and you will forget the Lord your God, who brought you out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. He led you through the vast and dreadful wilderness, that thirsty and waterless land, with its venomous snakes and scorpions. He brought you water out of hard rock. He gave you manna to eat in the wilderness, something your ancestors had never known, to humble and test you so that in the end it might go well with you. You may say to yourself, "My power and the strength of my hands have produced this wealth for me."               Deuteronomy 8: 11-17

       Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.    

      The topic I received today from Jesus is: A great and awesome God!

      When you face with a task beyond your ability, what would you do? 

Too many worries and can't sleep? Fall into depression? Work as hard as possible until you burn out?

Take a look at verse one of Chapter 7:

 When the Lord your God brings you into the land you are entering to possess and drives out before you many nations—the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations larger and stronger than you.

God was putting before them a task beyond their capacity. This task was to drive out the seven nations larger and stronger than they were. The real answer was not what they could do but how they trusted God totally that He is a great and awesome God.

God always gives me some impossible tasks, challenging me to only rely on His being a great and awesome God. In Him there is no fear, and in Him and only in Him we can prevail.

Then in Chapter 8, we receive a very important warning from God that once we forget that He is a great and awesome God and go in our own way because we think that we are secure and well off, and at that time, we will fall into darkness and blindness. What I received are two choices:

The cost of pride: forgetting what God has done; Pride; me, me, me. 

The consequence is to be destroyed.

The cost of Discipleship: To be humbled; to be willing under tests; ; live on every Word that comes from the mouth of the Lord; willing to be discipled by our Heavenly Father; listen and obey.

The fruit is more and more Christlike!

What is your choice?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to remember that you are a great and awesome God and that we always can be able to make the right choice to be with you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:     

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

    2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
