Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
      2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

     Praise and Thanksgiving
1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile.
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.          **Sing a song to praise the Lord

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passages:

But David thought to himself, "One of these days I will be destroyed by the hand of Saul. The best thing I can do is to escape to the land of the Philistines. Then Saul will give up searching for me anywhere in Israel, and I will slip out of his hand."     1 Samuel 27: 1

Not a blacksmith could be found in the whole land of Israel, because the Philistines had said, “Otherwise the Hebrews will make swords or spears!” So all Israel went down to the Philistines to have their plow points, mattocks, axes and sickles[f] sharpened. The price was two-thirds of a shekel[g]for sharpening plow points and mattocks, and a third of a shekel[h] for sharpening forks and axes and for repointing goads. So on the day of the battle not a soldier with Saul and Jonathan had a sword or spear in his hand; only Saul and his son Jonathan had them.                 1 Samuel 13: 19-22

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus isYou despair, God prepares!

!     See how despairing David was that he had to flee; he knew that Saul would kill him if he was still around. See how God prepared David for a greater use in the land of his exile, because David learned the secret of making swords and spears in the land of Philistines!

Many times, God prepares us during those times of sorrowful moments. Do you know why? Because we are most teachable in those moments; our pride will often get in the way when we are secure and satisfied! Pray for those moments when they come so that you can be a more "teachable" disciple of Christ! And because we are teachable, we can enter into His preparations!

Jesus says, "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven."
Matthew 5: 3

Jesus reminded me of that Spirit-filled, powerful, historical, meaningful and beautiful Installation of the new Primate of the Anglican Church of Rwanda, Archbishop Onesphore Rwaje!

The powerful sermon of the Primate of Burundi, Archbishop Bernard Ntahoturi, drawing our attention to the story in 2 Kings of how Elijah passed the baton to his disciple Elisha. And, how God used Archbishop Kolini to pass the baton to Archbishop Rwaje that day.

The President of Rwanda, his Excellency Paul Kagame, gave a powerful speech of how he appreciated the work of the Anglican Church of Rwanda. He said, "Understanding and action goes together." He witnessed how the Anglican Church of Rwanda under the 13 years of the leadership of Archbishop Kolini had a lot of actions to build up the nation and people into peace and unity. I had the honour to shake hand with President Kagame as he came forward to greet all the attending Archbishops and bishops.

In the despair of the genocide of killing one million people in 100 days, the nation and all churches all came together to take "action" to rebuild a nation of peace and unity.

So, if you are in despair, don't be discouraged. It might be the best moment for you to become "teachable" so that you can live out the Beatitudes of Jesus!

Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the Kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5: 3

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to be a teachable disciple of you so that I can enter into your preparations. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

    2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
