      10,000 Reasons

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

Then the Lord spoke to Job out of the storm. He said:
“Who is this that obscures my plans
    with words without knowledge?
     Brace yourself like a man;
    I will question you,
    and you shall answer me.
“Where were you when I laid the earth’s foundation?
    Tell me, if you understand.

                                         Job 38:1-4

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through today's TWA passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is: Who is this that obscures my plans with words without knowledge?

Today's catch is very special, because when I was reading today's passage from Job, I had lots of thinking: lots of time we say we do not understand God's plan, then we say we want to seek God's plan, and then we say we obey God's plan, actually, do we know what we are talking about?

Job was suddenly being thrown into deep suffering and almost lost everything, he did not understand God's plan!

Job's four friends thought they knew God's plan was to punish Job's serious sins so that God put him to deep suffering and what Job needed to do is to admit his sins and repent! They sat on God's throne to become judges!

So, until God spoke in Chapter 38, no one understand God's plan! And when God spoke, everyone understood!

Yes, the most important experience and purpose of our lives is to be able to "chat with God" each day! Let Him tells you and you will understand His plan. If He is not going to tell you, may be we will never understand until we are in heaven and then He will tell you and at that time you will say, "Oh! I understand now!"

May be you would ask, "How can I recognize that's God's voice?"

To this question which happen quite frequently, my answer is always this:
"Are you able to recognize your wife's voice? Your husband's voice? Your best friends voice?"

Well, if you can't recognize God's voice, it means you do not have that kind of intimate relationship with Him and He is not your Lord and most important person of your life!

I sincerely hope and pray for you to have a daily intimate relationship with Jesus and love to chat with Jesus everyday. Do not obscure God's plan with words without knowledge!

     Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to have a daily intimate relationship with you and love to chat with you each day that we won't obscure your plan with words without knowledge. In Jesus Name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
