      10,000 Reasons

     Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

           "Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
             Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
             Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passages:

Blessed are those whose strength is in you,
    whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
As they pass through the Valley of Baka,
    they make it a place of springs;
    the autumn rains also cover it with pools.[a]
They go from strength to strength,
    till each appears before God in Zion.

Hear my prayer, Lord God Almighty;
    listen to me, God of Jacob.

                                              Psalm 84:5-8

 14 So the elders of the Jews continued to build and prosper under the preaching of Haggai the prophet and Zechariah, a descendant of Iddo. They finished building the temple according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus, Darius and Artaxerxes, kings of Persia. 15 The temple was completed on the third day of the month Adar, in the sixth year of the reign of King Darius.

16 Then the people of Israel—the priests, the Levites and the rest of the exiles—celebrated the dedication of the house of God with joy. 17 For the dedication of this house of God they offered a hundred bulls, two hundred rams, four hundred male lambs and, as a sin offering[e] for all Israel, twelve male goats, one for each of the tribes of Israel. 18 And they installed the priests in their divisions and the Levites in their groupsfor the service of God at Jerusalem, according to what is written in the Book of Moses.

                                                      Ezra 6:14-18

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through today's TWA passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is:  Our strength is in you to pass through the Valley of tears to come to Your temple worshiping You!

     Yesterday Ezra's passage describes the moving and powerful scene of the worship of Israelites when they laid the foundation of the temple of Jerusalem after they returned from exile! It was 535BC, 50 years after Judah was destroyed by Babylon in 585BC.

     Today Ezra's passage was 20 years after 535BC that they completed the rebuilding of God's temple and it was 515BC, 70 years after their exile, just as Jeremiah prophesied! Today's passage describes how the Israelites give thanks to God for giving them strength to pass through the Valley of tears of that 70 years to be able to come to God's temple to worship Him in great thanksgiving and joy!

      What a divine coincidence that on September 13 this year will be our 30th Anniversary Thanksgiving Celebration, 10am Eucharist and 6pm Banquet.
      We truly experience what today's Psalm describes "Our strength is in you to pass through the Valley of tears to come to your temple!"!

      May those who join us to give thanks to our Abba Father for His protection, provision and blessings on September 13 will experience the great joy as describes in today's Ezra.

       The Jews needed 20 years to rebuild the temple. We need 24 years to build God's temple! Praise the Lord!

     Dear Lord Jesus,
     Help us to count your blessings the past 30 years of how you give us strength to pass through so many difficult times to be able to come to the Promised Land you have prepared for usIn Jesus Name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
