      10,000 Reasons

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

15 Once again there was a battle between the Philistines and Israel. David went down with his men to fight against the Philistines, and he became exhausted. 16 And Ishbi-Benob, one of the descendants of Rapha, whose bronze spearhead weighed three hundred shekels[e] and who was armed with a new sword, said he would kill David. 17 But Abishai son of Zeruiah came to David’s rescue; he struck the Philistine down and killed him. Then David’s men swore to him, saying, “Never again will you go out with us to battle, so that the lamp of Israel will not be extinguished.”18 In the course of time, there was another battle with the Philistines, at Gob. At that time Sibbekai the Hushathite killed Saph, one of the descendants of Rapha.19 In another battle with the Philistines at Gob, Elhanan son of Jair[f] the Bethlehemite killed the brother of[g] Goliath the Gittite, who had a spear with a shaft like a weaver’s rod.20 In still another battle, which took place at Gath, there was a huge man with six fingers on each hand and six toes on each foot—twenty-four in all. He also was descended from Rapha. 21 When he taunted Israel, Jonathan son of Shimeah, David’s brother, killed him. 22 These four were descendants of Rapha in Gath, and they fell at the hands of David and his men.

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through today's TWA passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is: Building Team spirit

Jesus showed me today the importance of building up the team spirit of our leaders is extremely important!

David built up the team spirit of his mighty warriors. How wonderful and powerful it was that David was exhausted and burnout but he did not have to fight because there were capable leaders fighting for him!

I praise the Lord for there are numerous mighty prayer warriors and capable leaders surrounding me so that I and my family have been prayed for daily and protected in a very special way.

On contrary, the sin of Saul had such a poisoning influence on his family that seven men of his family - two sons and five grandsons, had to die because of his sin! What an irony and a warning to all of us!

The photos above are from last May during my preaching at Manggatal Church in the Anglican Diocese of Sabah. Praise the Lord for the leadership of Rev. Sabry Daniel to have a very strong and anointed team and a powerful team spirit. I learned a lot from him!

And, they gave me a souvenir say "Welcome Home"! Wow! I am so moved that they accept me as their family members, Sabah is my HOME! Praise the Lord!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to build up the team spirit of my leaders which you have given me to glorify your mighty name. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
