      10,000 Reasons

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passages:

Blessed is the man You choose,
And cause to approach You,
That he may dwell in Your courts.
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Your house, o
f Your holy temple.       Psalm 65:4

The man Micah had a shrine, and made an ephod and household idols; and he consecrated one of his sons, who became his priest. In those days there was no king in Israel; everyone did what was right in his own eyes.             Judges 17:5-6

So Micah consecrated the Levite, and the young man became his priest, and lived in the house of Micah.  Then Micah said, “Now I know that the Lord will be good to me, since I have a Levite as priest!”  Judges 17:12-13

So he said, “You have taken away my gods which I made, and the priest, and you have gone away. Now what more do I have? How can you say to me, ‘What ails you?’ ”
And the children of Dan said to him, “Do not let your voice be heard among us, lest angry men fall upon you, and you lose your life, with the lives of your household!” Then the children of Dan went their way. And when Micah saw that they were too strong for him, he turned and went back to his house.  So they took the things Micah had made, and the priest who had belonged to him, and went to Laish, to a people quiet and secure; and they struck them with the edge of the sword and burned the city with fire.  Judges 18:24-27

And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
                                                                            John 3:19-21

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through today's TWA passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is: Come to the Light !

Today's Judges 17 and 18 gives me lots of sighs like what I had yesterday!

Because all Israelites deserted God and did what they thought was right! Micah thought that he had a shrine, an ephod and a priest and it meant God with him. In fact he was using God to attain his own purposes! Big mistake!

After that the tribe of Dan did a big mistake too. They did not rely on God to drive out the Canaanites(Amorites)so that they entered into that land Joshua gave them because the Amorites were too strong for them to conquer. Instead, they took the easy job to the land of Laish and killed those peaceful and innocent people there. They thought that they had the idol, the ephod and the Levite priest equal to God with them!

"Come to the Light!"
This is my catch today. Jesus revealed to Nicodemus in John 3 the same sin in today's Judges(1,400 years before Christ), and also to us that we cannot not think that we are true Christians because we have a church, liturgy, candles, pastors. Without repentance, born again and renewal, baptism and being filled with the Holy Spirit, a daily experience of God's presence and intimate relationship, we might just like Nicodemus, a religious person, doing religious activities or even making use of God to attain our own purpose!

May you become a true faithful mighty warrior for the Lord!

      Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be able to come to the Light that we can become your true mighty warriors.  In Jesus name we pray, Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
