Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
      2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

     Praise and Thanksgiving
1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile.
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.          **Sing a song to praise the Lord

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

And I myself will be a wall of fire around it,’ declares the Lord, ‘and I will be its glory within.’

“Come! Come! Flee from the land of the north,” declares the Lord, “for I have scattered you to the four winds of heaven,” declares the Lord.

“Come, Zion! Escape, you who live in Daughter Babylon!” For this is what the Lord Almighty says: “After the Glorious One has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye— I will surely raise my hand against them so that their slaves will plunder them.[b] Then you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me.

10 “Shout and be glad, Daughter Zion. For I am coming, and I will live among you,” declares the Lord. 11 “Many nations will be joined with the Lord in that day and will become my people. I will live among you and you will know that the Lord Almighty has sent me to you."

                                                      Zechariah 2:5-11

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is:  You are the apple of my eye!

Zechariah chapter 2 is the third vision of Zechariah and is looking ahead to the millennial kingdom.  The time when Jesus Christ will reign on earth at the end of history.  Then Zion, God's faithful people of Israel, along with the Gentiles, all will be considered God's people.  They will all enjoy the benefit of God's presence among them.

In the millennial kingdom, the city will not need walls, for the Lord himself will be a wall of fire, or protection, around it. God will reside among his people and his intense presence will fill the entire city.

On the other hand, at that time Jerusalem was still in a pitiful condition at the end of the Babylonian exile.  God encouraged them by telling them that he was not through with them, he would make it the most glorious place on earth at the end of history. And those who remained faithful to Him are the apple of God's eye, the source of his affection and they are precious to Him.

How close it is with God that we are the apple of his eye!

What I received from Jesus today is like He is singing a love song to us - you are the apple of my eye!

How much encouragements could His love song helped those people who were still in the Babylonian exile.  How much encouragements could his love song help us today giving us strength and hope to enjoy each day doing His Kingdom ministry.

What I heard from Jesus now is to ask you to close your eyes.
Take a deep breath now.
Wait in silence until you hear him say to you, "You are the apple of my eye!"

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for your unending love to us. We love you, Jesus! Help us to be in your love, enjoy your love and be able to share your love each day.  In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
