Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
      2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

     Praise and Thanksgiving
1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile.
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.          **Sing a song to praise the Lord

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

On the twenty-fourth day of the first month, as I was standing on the bank of the great river, the Tigris, I looked up and there before me was a man dressed in linen, with a belt of fine gold from Uphaz around his waist. His body was like topaz, his face like lightning, his eyes like flaming torches, his arms and legs like the gleam of burnished bronze, and his voice like the sound of a multitude.

I, Daniel, was the only one who saw the vision; those who were with me did not see it, but such terror overwhelmed them that they fled and hid themselves. So I was left alone, gazing at this great vision; I had no strength left, my face turned deathly pale and I was helpless. Then I heard him speaking, and as I listened to him, I fell into a deep sleep, my face to the ground.

10 A hand touched me and set me trembling on my hands and knees. 11 He said, “Daniel, you who are highly esteemed, consider carefully the words I am about to speak to you, and stand up, for I have now been sent to you.” And when he said this to me, I stood up trembling.

12 Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.13 But the prince of the Persian kingdom resisted me twenty-one days. Then Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, because I was detained there with the king of Persia. 14 Now I have come to explain to you what will happen to your people in the future, for the vision concerns a time yet to come.”

                                                                  Daniel 10:4-14

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is:  How can you stand against Satan's attack?

Daniel 10 gives us a clear picture of what Paul means in Ephesians 6: 10-13, a glimpse of the unseen battles going on in the spiritual realm.

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
Ephesians 6: 10-13

While Daniel was fasting and praying, an intense battle was raging in the spiritual realm. The "prince of the Persian kingdom" temporarily prevented Daniel from receiving God's message from the angel. Because of this conflict, he had to wait 21 days for the revelation. This Persian prince was not a human ruler, but a demon from Satan's kingdom. He was defeated only when Michael, Israel's prince(v.21) came to help the angel.

If you cannot understand this message and that it is because you are not a man or woman of fasting and praying. If you are, then you will understand what Daniel and Paul said and experienced!

Certainly God Himself can overrule such spiritual obstacles and delays, but he chooses to work through our fasting and praying.

What I received from Jesus today is we can not stand against Satan's attack unless we learn and exercise pray, fast, wait, listen and obey.

Yes, that is "pray, fast, wait, listen and obey"!

Lots' of people think of how can we put on the full armor of God so that we can prevail.

Turn to Ezekiel 37 and read, if we are one of those dry bones, how can we have that armor to put on? If we are revived and renewed by the Holy Spirit then we will be filled by the Holy Spirit and join the vast army of God(Ezekiel 37: 10). Then God will give us that full armor each day and we will join in to fight a good fight for God each day. What is the use of just one lonely soldier fighting a warfare he or she does not understand?

That's the way to stand against Satan's attack:
PRAY
FAST
WAIT
LISTEN
OBEY

That's why all three of my mom's children, Ada, Dennis and me become God's faithful servants. Because my grandmother who passed away 60 years ago fast and pray, and my mother, who passed away two months ago on September 26 fasted and prayed!

Wow! That's what Jesus just told me! Praise the Lord!
And, thank you, Mom for your fasting and praying!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for revealing this simple but very important strategy to stand against Satan's attack. Help us to know that this is from you and what we need to know is to listen and obey.  In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
