Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
      2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

     Praise and Thanksgiving
1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile.
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.          **Sing a song to praise the Lord

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

I saw the Lord standing by the altar, and he said:

“Strike the tops of the pillars
    so that the thresholds shake.
Bring them down on the heads of all the people;
those who are left I will kill with the sword.
Not one will get away,
    none will escape.
Though they dig down to the depths below,
from there my hand will take them.
Though they climb up to the heavens above,
from there I will bring them down.
Though they hide themselves on the top of Carmel,
there I will hunt them down and seize them.
Though they hide from my eyes at the bottom of the sea,
there I will command the serpent to bite them.
Though they are driven into exile by their enemies,
there I will command the sword to slay them.

“I will keep my eye on them
for harm and not for good.”

11 “In that day

“I will restore David’s fallen shelter—
I will repair its broken walls
    and restore its ruins—
and will rebuild it as it used to be,
12 so that they may possess the remnant of Edom
and all the nations that bear my name,[j]
declares the Lord, who will do these things.

13 “The days are coming,” declares the Lord,

“when the reaper will be overtaken by the plowman
and the planter by the one treading grapes.
New wine will drip from the mountains
and flow from all the hills,
14     and I will bring my people Israel back from exile.[k]

“They will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them.
    They will plant vineyards and drink their wine;
they will make gardens and eat their fruit.
15 I will plant Israel in their own land,
    never again to be uprooted
from the land I have given them,”

says the Lord your God.

                                                      Amos 9:1-4, 11-15

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is:  Continuously plant and harvest!

Amos 9 is the last chapter of the book of Amos giving his fifth vision.

Amos saw the Lord standing by the altar in His sanctuary.  The altar was a place where people expected to encounter God's blessing, but instead God was ready to strike down the hypocritical worshipers by bringing the temple down on their heads.  Those who escaped would be killed by the sword.

On the other hand, God promised that Israel would not be totally destroyed. The day will come when the nation would be restored to its land and would be a blessing to all nations.  This day should be refer to the Messianic kingdom, when Christ reigns over all the earth at the end of history (Rev. 20).

Amos prophesies of a transformed and glorious earth where God's people can continually plant and harvest at the same time.  The land will be supernaturally productive, people will lack nothing and God's blessings will never end.  Israel's relationship with God will finally be restored and they will never abandon Him. They and their land will be secure, and they will never again face destruction.

What we need to know is that when Christ returns, he will severely judge those within his churches who are living a sinful lifestyle, none of them will escape God's wrath.

What kind of lifestyle are you living in?
You better start to live a lifestyle more and more like Christ before it's too late!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for giving us a chance to return to you that we can taste the sweetness of being fruitful and to continually plant and harvest.  In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
