Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

"For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.12 Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. 13 You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. 14 I will be found by you,” declares the Lord,“and will bring you back from captivity.[b] I will gather you from all the nations and places where I have banished you,” declares the Lord,“and will bring you back to the place from which I carried you into exile.”

                                                                        Jeremiah 29: 11-14

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is: My plans are to prosper you and not to harm you!

Jeremiah 29 shows us a letter Jeremiah wrote to the Jewish exiles taken captive in 597 B.C..
He wrote this letter about one or two years after they arrived in Babylon for those people lost all their hope living in darkness and oppression everyday.

Jeremiah brought them with God's Words giving them hope and instruction to live on:
1. They should live normal life as they had before and to pray for their alien city.
2. They must not listen to the false prophets any more.
3. Those who remained in Jerusalem would suffer greatly for their rebellion against God.
4. Two false prophets would be killed because they were living in adultery. and falsely delivering God's message.
5. At the end of 70 years of captivity God would give them restoration.

Prosper is the key word for those people from God through Jeremiah to give to those people in a time that they thought God left them!

Jesus leads me to think of the pain of God at that time when He had to pour down His wrath to punish the Jews. That is painful!
Why God had to do that? Because they were all stubborn and unfaithful!
And, lots of time, we as human beings are also stubborn and unfaithful!

Let's be teachable and faithful!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to be sure that you love us and your plan is to prosper us and not to harm us. Lead us to be teachable and faithful disciples of you. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
