1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

Key passage:

"But I gave them this command;

Obey me, and I will be your God and you will be my people.

Walk in all the ways I command you,

that it may go well with you.

But they did not listen or pay attention;

instead, they followed the stubborn inclinations of their evil hearts.

They went backward and not forward.

                            Jeremiah 7: 23-24

                     

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

    

The topic I received today from Jesus is:  Forward and not backward, please!

Jeremiah 7 describes how God gives his people an opportunity to turn from their evil ways and return to God's path of life - 

Reform your ways and your actions! Jeremiah 7:3

But, the Israelites believed they were all right because they had the temple and followed its rituals, they saw no need to repent. 

In fact their ways and actions were to steal and murder(vv. 9-11), worshiping the 'queen of heaven" which was the Babylonian fertility goddess. Jeremiah says the following of other gods is "to your own harm". (v. 6) He gives an example of how God destroyed Shiloh in the time of the judges as Shiloh was the center of worship at that time with the presence of the tabernacle. 

Jesus reminds me today that there are quite a number of Christians I know who do not think there is anything for them to change. The strange thing is that most of them have one same thought: I am quite good now, I have a church to go, I am doing Christian things, I do not have anything to change!

If that is you, then you need to read carefully what this chapter tells you. To reform our ways and actions is a daily process that we will be changed into a lifestyle of Christlikeness so that we can be fruitful!

Jesus gives you a warning today: Forward and not backward please! 

Dear Lord Jesus,

Help us to reform our ways and actions by our willingness to change each day to be more like you. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:    

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
