     Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

           "Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
             Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
             Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scoffers

    who rule this people in Jerusalem.
15 You boast, “We have entered into a covenant with death,
    with the realm of the dead we have made an agreement.
When an overwhelming scourge sweeps by,
    it cannot touch us,
for we have made a lie our refuge
    and falsehood[b] our hiding place.”

16 So this is what the Sovereign Lord says:

“See, I lay a stone in Zion, a tested stone,
    a precious cornerstone for a sure foundation;
the one who relies on it
    will never be stricken with panic.
17 I will make justice the measuring line
    and righteousness the plumb line;
hail will sweep away your refuge, the lie,
    and water will overflow your hiding place.
18 Your covenant with death will be annulled;
    your agreement with the realm of the dead will not stand.
When the overwhelming scourge sweeps by,
    you will be beaten down by it.
19 As often as it comes it will carry you away;
    morning after morning, by day and by night,
    it will sweep through.”

The understanding of this message
    will bring sheer terror.
20 The bed is too short to stretch out on,
    the blanket too narrow to wrap around you.
21 The Lord will rise up as he did at Mount Perazim,
    he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon—
to do his work, his strange work,
    and perform his task, his alien task.
22 Now stop your mocking,
    or your chains will become heavier;
the Lord, the Lord Almighty, has told me
    of the destruction decreed against the whole land.

23 Listen and hear my voice;
    pay attention and hear what I say.
24 When a farmer plows for planting, does he plow continually?
    Does he keep on breaking up and working the soil?
25 When he has leveled the surface,
    does he not sow caraway and scatter cumin?
Does he not plant wheat in its place,[c]
    barley in its plot,[d]
    and spelt in its field?
26 His God instructs him
    and teaches him the right way.

Isaiah 28: 14-24
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is:  Listen and hear my voice!

In chapters 28 - 33, Isaiah moved back from the prophecy of the end-time to his own time about Israel (here called Ephraim, the name of one of the nation's predominant tribes) and Judah. There are three points for us to learn:
  1. The sin and spiritual rebellion of the two nations(vv. 1- 15): Isaiah harshly condemns their sin and spiritual rebellion and reveals God's coming judgment.
  2. The cornerstone(vv.16- 22) : The cornerstone is the main stone in a building's foundation. It points to the Lord himself as faith in God alone is the only source of true security and the only firm foundation and hope for salvation.
  3. Hear God's voice (vv. 23-29): This is a poetic parable to describe God as a farmer. His actions are perfect for growing God's people who will be faithful examples of a right relationship with God. In order to be in this relationship, we must learn to listen to his voice.
To solve the critical situation of the coming destruction of Israel and Judah. God turns their focus to the cornerstone which is God Himself and asked them to learn to listen and hear His voice. That's so simple and yet impossible!

It's a call to spend time in God's presence, in his Word and in prayer, nothing more and nothing less! But they didn't follow and their nations were being totally destroyed!

Are you going to be willing to spend time to be with Jesus, to listen and hear His voice daily to avoid same destruction happening to you?

Dear Lord Jesus,
No one wants to have those destruction happening to us. Help us to be able to listen and hear your voice daily. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
