Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
      2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

     Praise and Thanksgiving
1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile.
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.          **Sing a song to praise the Lord

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passages:

The people in Judah said, "The strength of the laborers is giving out, and there is so much rubble that we cannot rebuild the wall."
Nehemiah 4: 10

"Don't be afraid of them. Remember the Lord, who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons and your daughters, your wives and our homes."
Nehemiah 4: 14

When our enemies heard that we were aware of their plot and that God had frustrated it, we all returned to the wall, each to his own work.
Nehemiah 4: 15

Our God will fight for us! Nehemiah 4: 20

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is: Don't quit!

Those people were about to quit facing with all kinds of difficulties, oppositions and attack. But Nehemiah gave an important and inspiring short speech to change the whole atmosphere and situation.

His message is somewhat like this,
"Don't be afraid of those people. It is God you should fear of and if you fear God nothing can be afraid of!"

We afraid of so many things and so often we want to quit just as those people in this chapter.
Why quit?  Why not quit?

If we believe and experience our God will fight for us. Why we need to quit?

Let's "work with all our hearts" (4: 6) and taste the sweetness of unity then there is nothing to be fear of. God is great and awesome!

God will fight for us!

You can see the photo above is from my study at home. The four Chinese words means "Don't quit".
It is a gift from a couple for my 70th birthday a year ago.
Priscilla was one of the first group of people to be baptized by me on Christmas Day 1996 in our church, four months after our first service on September 8, 1996. Jeff, her husband was not a believer at that time and I used 13 years to lead him to Jesus, baptized and later became one of our Council members and he was the Project Manager for our new church renovation project from July 2022 to September 2024.

They said the best gift for them to give me on my 70th birthday is to give thanks to God for my not quitting to lead Jeff to receive Jesus as Lord and Saviour. I am being encouraged in a very special way when I received their gift. And, I put it in my study and everyday when I record my video I give thanks to the Lord for training me in a very special way that no matter what kind of difficult situation, Jesus will command me in a special way telling me:

Don't quit!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help us to remove all fear believing and experiencing that you will fight for us. In Jesus Name we pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
