Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
      2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

     Praise and Thanksgiving
1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile.
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.          **Sing a song to praise the Lord

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

Joash[d] was seven years old when he began to reign.

In the seventh year of Jehu, Joash[g] became king, and he reigned in Jerusalem forty years. His mother’s name was Zibiah; she was from Beersheba. Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord all the years Jehoiada the priest instructed him. The high places, however, were not removed; the people continued to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

                                                            2 Kings 11:21-12:3

18 But Joash king of Judah took all the sacred objects dedicated by his predecessors—Jehoshaphat, Jehoram and Ahaziah, the kings of Judah—and the gifts he himself had dedicated and all the gold found in the treasuries of the temple of the Lord and of the royal palace, and he sent them to Hazael king of Aram, who then withdrew from Jerusalem.

19 As for the other events of the reign of Joash, and all he did, are they not written in the book of the annals of the kings of Judah? 20 His officials conspired against him and assassinated him at Beth Millo, on the road down to Silla.21 The officials who murdered him were Jozabad son of Shimeath and Jehozabad son of Shomer. He died and was buried with his ancestors in the City of David. And Amaziah his son succeeded him as king.         2 Kings 12: 18-21

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is:  God needs total obedience!

Joash was a good king but he could not finish well? Why?

King Joash was personally instructed by Jehoiada the priest; he did good things to repair God's temple.
But, as recorded in 2 Kings 12:2, King Joash did what was right in the eyes of the Lord all the years Jehoiada the priest instructed him. After Jehoiada died, he turned away from God! (2 Chronicles 24:15-22)

In his early years the Bible recorded that King Joash just like many kings did, he did not remove the high places and allowed people to offer sacrifices and burn incense there.

What was that about? Why hd could not finish well?
The simplest way to describe this is that it was about allowing a mixed religion to exist.
Like a Christian goes to church and also go to temples of other religion, or they join small group and do everything a good Christian does but also keeping some kind of lifestyle like a non-Christian. Sooner or later those things might poison them, like what king Joash did and then he was assassinated.

The tragic consequence of not total obedience to God may be not being able to finish well!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to live a life of total obedience to you that I can finish well.  In Jesus name I pray . Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
