      2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

     Then the king gave the order to Benaiah son of Jehoiada, and he went out and struck Shimei down and killed him. The kingdom was now firmly established in Solomon's hands.

       Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.    

     The topic I received today from Jesus is: Courage to act!

!!   Lots of people do not want to read the Old Testament, for they do not think God would ask His servants to kill like that. The Old Testament seems full of killing, killing and killing!

What I received from Jesus today is very different. He gave me a point of view from another angle. 

At the end of the movie "The Fall of Hitler", it says: 

"The rise of evil is for good men to do nothing!"

I saw how devastating it was in Rwanda that one million Rwandans died in 100 days, for good people did not act. I saw nations fall, churches fall because good people did not act.

Why didn't David do it himself, instead asking his son Solomon to do it? Two possible reasons. 

First God wanted him to give those leaders who betrayed David a second chance. 

Second, they got their second chance but then David was too 'chicken' to act!

We need to understand in those times if you do not act, then you will be 'killed'. No other way!

So, it's not about "killing" but about the courage to act when God wants you to act. But, we also can see the painful reality of the desire for POWER in 1 Kings 2 of the cruelty of how human beings can cause so much pain and suffering just to eliminate the opponents! 

Do you have the courage to act when God commands you to act?

Dear Lord Jesus,

Give me the courage to act when you command me to charge and act. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:    

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

     2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
