Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
      2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

     Praise and Thanksgiving
1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile.
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.          **Sing a song to praise the Lord

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passage:

So Boaz took Ruth and she became his wife. When he made love to her, the Lord enabled her to conceive, and she gave birth to a son.14 The women said to Naomi: “Praise be to the Lord, who this day has not left you without a guardian-redeemer. May he become famous throughout Israel! 15 He will renew your life and sustain you in your old age. For your daughter-in-law, who loves you and who is better to you than seven sons, has given him birth.”

16 Then Naomi took the child in her arms and cared for him. 17 The women living there said, “Naomi has a son!” And they named him Obed. He was the father of Jesse, the father of David.

The Genealogy of David

18 This, then, is the family line of Perez:

Perez was the father of Hezron,

19 Hezron the father of Ram,

Ram the father of Amminadab,

20 Amminadab the father of Nahshon,

Nahshon the father of Salmon,[i]

21 Salmon the father of Boaz,

Boaz the father of Obed,

22 Obed the father of Jesse,

and Jesse the father of David.                  Ruth 4:13-22

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus isThe fruit of total obedience!

Chapter 4 shows the fruit of total obedience.

Jesus asked me a question: Who do you think is more important in this chapter, Naomi or Ruth?

Well, this is the Book of Ruth; of course Ruth should be the most important person in this book. But, without Naomi who was Ruth's godly coach and mentor, nothing would have happened.
It seems to me that Naomi had a harder role to show her godly character(Christlikeness in Christian terms) so that Ruth had a coach and mentor to follow.

According to my long time coach, Rev. Dr. Prof. Terry Walling, he said,
"A coach is to pull out what you have inside to bring you to the next level.
A mentor is to 'put in' so that you can be equipped to be ready for the next level."

Naomi did both things!
She did a good job and because of her faithfulness, King David and Jesus Christ could be born in her genealogy.

Wow, that is such a great and blessed fruit of total obedience from both Naomi and Ruth.

Do you have a Naomi in your life?
Are you willing to be a Ruth to exercise the total obedience so that God can work things through you in a mighty way?

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to exercise total obedience to you and to taste the fruit of total obedience. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

    2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
