Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
      2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

     Praise and Thanksgiving
1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile.
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.          **Sing a song to praise the Lord

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passages:

The angel of the Lord went up from Gilgal to Bokim and said, “I brought you up out of Egypt and led you into the land I swore to give to your ancestors. I said, ‘I will never break my covenant with you, Yet you have disobeyed me. Why have you done this? Now therefore I tell you that I will not drive them out before you; they will be thorns in your sides and their gods will be a snare to you."      Judges 2:2-3

But when they cried out to the Lord, he raised up for them a deliverer, Othniel son of Kenaz, Caleb's younger brother, who saved them. The Spirit of the Lord came upon him, so that he became Israel's judge and went to war.       Judges 3:9-10

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is: How can you do that to me?

In our time of darkness you might say to the Lord, "How can you do that to me?" And then, you stop going to church because you are angry with God not opening doors for you.

But today in this chapter it is God who spoke through an angel to His people, "How can you do that to me? To disobey me? That's why all your life will be thorns in your sides and those idols you offer your life to will be a snare to you."

In Judges 1, they could communicate to God. In Judges 2 God needed to send an angel to deliver His Words but they still did not obey. So, at the end of chapter 2, God had to raise up a judge to help them when they groaned under oppression and affliction!

Then in Judges 3, it is somewhat like the pitfall of many Christians. When we are OK, then we tend to isolate ourselves from all the connections of God like daily devotion, Sunday worship, small group etc.. Then when we are not OK, we'll cry out to God and try to connect again but many times we don't know how to, for the Devil has successfully "disconnected", 'isolated" us from the Lord.

Rise up, soldiers! Fire up, children of God!
Don't let this happen to you!
Build up a daily intimate relationship with Jesus that God can walk with you, talk to you and fight for you. Don't let God asks you, "How can you do that to me?"

Dear Lord Jesus,
Thank you for your presence and your abiding love in each new day. Help us to be able to listen and obey to you that we won't be disconnected from you and the spiritual family you prepares for us. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

    2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
