1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:

     “Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:

     "Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

Key passage: 

     And Jephthah made a vow to the Lord: "If you give the Ammonites into my hands, whatever comes out of the door of my house to meet me when I return in triumph from the Ammonites will be the Lord's, and I will sacrifice it as a burnt offering."       Judges 11: 30-31

       Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passage we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.    

     The topic I received today from Jesus is: Ambition blinds a leader's eye!

     I felt so bad when I read this chapter! I think that the question for most people is : How could God allowed Jephthah to kill his only child, her daughter as a burning sacrifice? How could God accept that kind of brutal offering?

The answer I got from Jesus is: Ambition blinds a leader's eye!

Yes, Jephthah was filled by the Holy Spirit and he was able to gather warriors to fight(v.29). Yes, Jephthah was a mighty warrior who became a commander for the Israelites. Yes, he seems to have a special relationship with God (v. 11). But, the vow he had was a selfish and rash vow. Jephthah knew that it was a sin to break a vow(Numbers 30:2), but in this case it was a greater sin to fulfil it! He could never know he had to kill his own daughter because of his own vow. But, he was OK to kill any other person when he said his vow. God taught him a big lesson!

I felt so sick and so bad that a Spirit-filled and anointed leader could be such a selfish father! So, leaders, watch out! Don't be a rash leader and watch out what you say! You never know that a word can KILL!

Dear Lord Jesus,

Forgive me for how rashly I make decisions and say words. Help me not to be a rash leader and watch out for what I say. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:     

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

    2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
