Silence

1.   Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence
      2.   Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.

     Praise and Thanksgiving
1.   Think through your day, all the times that made you smile.
2.   Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people
3.          Sing a song to praise the Lord

Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)

1.  Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”

2.  Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."

3.  John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."

Key passages:

"Go, tell them to return to their tents. But you stay here with me so that I may give you all the commands, decrees and laws you are to teach them to follow in the land I am giving them to possess."                                                                  Deuteronomy 5: 30-31

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the door-frames of your houses and on your gates.               Deuteronomy 6: 4-9

Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passagse we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.

The topic I received today from Jesus is: Stay here with me!

In Moses' time, only Moses could stay there with God. Because of Jesus, we are able to stay with God to enjoy the fellowship with Him and receive His Kingdom plan. Our duty is to teach all those whom the Lord prepared for us to teach so that they can be in His Kingdom - the Promised Land.

How well are you willing to stay with Jesus? How well have you received His Kingdom plan to teach and bring people to His Kingdom?

Then, in chapter 6 we know how powerful it was after Moses stayed with God and be able to deliver the Ten Commandments and other commands from God to His people.

Deuteronomy 6 is perhaps the most important chapter in the Bible for all Israelites. All of them can memorize verses 4 to 9. And, the men put Deuteronomy 6:4 in a black box on the forehead when they pray since then until now. I saw a lot of men prayed in the airport in Paris February 2017 and in the Wailing Wall in Jerusalem. I took the photo above  when our church had an Israel trip.

Jesus greatest commandment is from verse 4. This is how the Israelites teach their children until this very day.

For Christians we need to grasp every opportunity to bring our children to Jesus. This is not only the responsibility of our pastors and leaders but everyone. We need to start having daily devotions with them when they are still very young. When they are over seven or older, then you may not have a chance.  There is no better way for parents to bring their children to Jesus!

Dear Lord Jesus,
Help me to enjoy staying with you and that I can receive your Kingdom plan to bring more people into your Promised Land and that we can
be good parents to bring our children to you. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

Reflect on these questions:

1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?

    2.  What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do?
