Key passages:
"But in the seventh year the land is to have a sabbath of rest, a sabbath to the Lord." Leviticus 25: 4
"The fiftieth year shall be a jubilee for you; do not sow and so not reap what grows of itself or harvest the untended vines." Leviticus 25: 11
"Therefore, this is what the Lord says: You have not obeyed me; you have not proclaimed freedom for your fellow countrymen. So I now proclaim 'freedom' for you, declares the Lord - 'freedom' to fall by the sword, plague and famine. I will make you abhorrent to all the kingdoms of the earth."
Jeremiah 34: 17
The land enjoyed its sabbath rests; all the time of its desolation it rested, until the seventy years were completed in fulfillment of the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah. 2 Chronicles 36: 21
" Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death; whoever does any work on that day must be cut off from his people." Exodus 31: 14
In vain you rise early and stay up late,
toiling for food to eat - for he grants sleep to those he loves. Psalm 127: 2
Let's have a time to be still and give the Holy Spirit space to speak through the passages we have just read. Offer this time to Jesus as you listen to Him.
The topic I received today from Jesus is: Don't just say YES and not doing it!
Continuing from yesterday's message of the importance of Sabbath rest, we read in today's passage about the consequence of not resting according to God's command. There is a commentator giving accurate calculation of how the Israelites did not obey God's command on the Sabbath year and the year of Jubilee. The result was that at the end, the land had a rest of seventy years before the Israelites could return to Jerusalem after they lost their nation! We may not know the consequence of our not obeying God, but we know from today's passages that they suffered the consequence 500 years later in a very severe way!
Just as I said yesterday, there are more and more sleeping clinics in North America. More and more people can not sleep well or cannot sleep at all sometimes. Lots of people are taking sleeping pills, and if they do not take the pills, they cannot sleep!
Do we know the importance of not working and resting in the Lord! If not, we may sooner or later go to a sleeping clinic seeking for solution, and that might be a dead end!
God promises us that all those He loves can have good sleep! You need to pray and claim His promise!
Dear Lord Jesus,
You are my Lord, my King and my Savior. Come and lead me to worship you and to rest in you as you command us. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
Reflect on these questions:
1. What inspiration have you received from today's catch and what have you heard from Jesus now?
2. What is your next step to be more closer to Jesus, to be holy - that is to do what Jesus wants you to do and not to do what Jesus wants you not to do? If you would like to follow my "Subject shifting Devotion Method" from the "Time with Abba, Praising Singing", you are welcome to follow the direction below and then go back to the top of this blog to read today's key passage and my listening and sharing:
Silence1. Put on your “brakes” and stop for a moment of silence 2. Wait for God. Breathe deep for God's peace and feel His presence. Exhale your worries.
Praise and Thanksgiving1. Think through your day, all the times that made you smile 2. Thank God for all those moments, and for all those people3. Sing a song to praise the Lord Confession and Repentance (Subjective Shifting Devotion Method)
1. Pray for the Holy Spirit to shine on you that you are able to discover your sins and be willing to repent:
“Dear Holy Spirit, shine your light into the places of darkness in my life. Show me my sins, everything that blocks me from encountering God and having Jesus as my Lord. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.”
2. Through the Holy Spirit, examine yourself for a short silence and then pray:
"Dear Lord Jesus, thank you for dying on the cross for our sins and being victorious over death and sin. I confess my sins to you(pause, to tell Jesus what the Holy Spirit has shown you). Forgive my sins by your blood and help me follow you. Holy Spirit, fill me that I may be able to receive your gifts to love God and His people. In Jesus Name I pray, Amen."
3. John Stott's daily prayer of Christlikeness (Christopher J.H. Wright, Cultivating the fruit of the Spirit. Downers Grove, IL: InterVarsity Press, 2017, 13)

"Heavenly Father, I pray that this day I may live in your presence and please you more and more.
Lord Jesus, I pray that this day I may take up my cross and follow you.
Holy Spirit, I pray that this day you will fill me with yourself and cause your fruit to ripen in my life: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control."
